Recently, our team at SB Comm had the pleasure of completing a smart office for the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. Their goal? A complete commercial technology makeover, creating a modern space where their team could work efficiently, host meetings, and train people. Essentially, they wanted a tech-savvy headquarters that would impress members and visitors alike.

Their Vision

The GAHBA wanted an entry where they could welcome people with a reception area and a coffee bar. Other spaces to fill their office included: 

  • A high-tech boardroom for important meetings
  • A training room for larger groups
  • Classroom space for education
  • Executive offices
  • Space for HomeAid Atlanta, their partner organization

They also had a few special touches and requests that were important to the overall experience. One essential feature was music that would create a welcoming atmosphere, particularly in the common areas. They also needed to showcase sponsor content and announcements on TV screens. 

Catering to the hybrid workforce, they requested that we ensure seamless video conferencing for hybrid meetings. They also wanted technology that was easy to use and wouldn’t frustrate their staff. 

Our Solution

We created a complete “smart office.” One of the essential ingredients and the backbone of the project was fast and reliable internet throughout the building, with a separate network for guests. We equipped the reception and coffee bar area with background music and ensured TV displays showed sponsor content and announcements. 

We designed the boardroom in a manner that allowed people to join meetings from anywhere in the world easily. The training room featured two large screens and specialized smart cameras that automatically tracked the presenters, creating a seamless experience for both onsite and remote participants. 

Classroom spaces were designed with large TVs for teaching purposes, and the executive offices were equipped with smart displays for meetings and presentations. Smart technology touched every aspect of this project, from the reception area to the boardroom, training area, and executive offices.

What made this project unique, however, was how we integrated everything into a single, easy-to-use system. Whether starting a video conferencing call, turning on the music, or beginning a presentation, every technology is accessible with one-touch control. To ensure an optimum experience, we also included our top-tier ProActive Level support package for as long as they own the system. It’s a package valued at $4,020 per year.

The Challenges

Every project has its own unique challenges, and this one was no different. In this case, however, it wasn’t technology throwing hurdles at us; it was timing. The overall construction project faced some delays, but our team at SB Comm knew how important it was for our client to move into their new space without the headaches of technology gone wrong.

To ensure a positive experience, we maintained constant communication with all parties and adjusted our installation schedule to accommodate changes in the construction timeline. Despite external delays, we kept the project moving forward and ensured everything was ready when GAHBA needed to move in.

The Budget

The project was valued at $104,528. Due to the significant discounts we offered, we were able to reduce the final cost to $71,847.10. This demonstrates our commitment to supporting the business industry while delivering top-quality solutions.
